Cinaxe: the cinema that moves you!

Cinaxe takes you into the third dimension...
The image comes out of the screen and you move with it!

Set off on an extraordinary voyage to the Egypt of the pharaohs, or deep into the world of Jules Verne! Discover the unique thrills offered by the combination of simulation and three-dimensional cinema!

Journey through the third dimension ...
When a feature film is shown through the simulator, it faithfully restores all the movements in perfect synchronization with the image, so you feel the effects of speed with maximum realism. "The curse of Tutankhamen" and " Mystery Island", feature films made in "3D", will sweep you along in two thrilling and heartstopping adventures. Get ready for take-off! (duration: 5 mins)

Mystery Island
Journey to the centre of the Earth in search of the Nautilus, Captain Nemo's mythical submarine.

The Curse of Tutankhamen
Travel through time in search of a famous explorer who disappeared in an unopened Egyptian tomb. And watch out for the curse of Tutankhamen if you want to make it to the burial chamber…

Some of the technology explained
Cinaxe is a sophisticated simulator, built using hi-tech equipment used for training pilots in the aeronautical industry. The flight simulator platform is specially adapted to house spectators and with 56 seats it is the biggest simulator in the world.
The simulator brings together all the technology in the industry: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, computing, data-communications, audio, video and cinema techniques. Controlled by three pairs of hydraulic rams, it can move in multiple directions and accelerations simultaneously, according to signals sent from the projected images.

The film and video projection
The computer-generated images on the film are stored on hard disks integrated to the central computer, which controls the projection booth and sends the images to traditional video projectors.

Some key figures
- 2500 sq. metres required to allow for the simulator's movements.
- 3 pairs of rams with a maximum extension of 1.5 metres.
- 25,000 different parts originating from
25 different countries plus 986 bolts.
- Height: 6.10 metres - length: 8.25 metres - weight: 11.8 tonnes.
- 25 security systems to ensure your safety.

The cabin
This undergoes multi-directional movements of around 25° to 29° with acceleration that can reach 3g (an aircraft on take-off pulls 1g). Completely controlled by computer, the cabin's movements are synchronised, image by image, with the projected film.

Sound
The sound is recorded on a laser video disc controlled by computer so as to maintain synchronisation. Sound system power: 2.8 kW, 2 Dolby-Stereo sources, 10 loudspeakers.

Safety
Safety is monitored by 25 automatic control systems. A single one of these systems giving an alarm is sufficient either to lock the cabin in the stopped position, or to return it immediately to the evacuation position. Thanks to a video monitoring system, the cabin remains under permanent surveillance.

The hydraulic system
The Parker central control unit consists of 3 motors of 60 hp; 3 hydraulic pumps - capacity 540 l/min - pressure 117 bars - reservoirs 1890 litres.
