At the end of the film made by the Cité about visual artist Orlan, she contextualises her action in this way. "We are standing on the edge of a world for which we are completely unprepared, both physically and mentally. So I think it's necessary for certain artists to prepare both themselves and the public for the great social changes that will soon result from genetic engineering, medicine, biology and the leading-edge technologies that are being developed…"
