The connected body:
   Communicating scarf and glasses

France Telecom's communicating scarf, based on an idea by Yacine Aït Kaci and Naziha Mestaoui, is for travelling businesspersons. Connect to the Internet, send e-mails, access files or watch a film... All this is possible using a microcomputer with a touch screen. A microphone, two earphones hidden in the collar and a webcam complete the system, enabling the user to speak to others, organise videoconferences and send photos.
As the Essilor MicroOptical prototype shows, one day, we may be able to receive pictures and messages on a small intangible screen in our glasses while still seeing the outside world. This discreet, hands-free system could be linked to one or more mobile terminals (telephone, television set, computer) or a DVD player.
