Welcome!

Welcome to Challenges of the Living World This major program runs from 2001 to 2003, featuring exhibitions, lectures, debates, experiments and research forums.

Challenges of the Living World at the Cité des Sciences: What challenges? Challenges of the Living World centers on the hopes and concerns associated with developments such as cloning, genetic engineering, Genetically Modified Organisms and new forms of medical treatment.
We all want to know what the future holds for mankind. Human diversity - what lies ahead? When will the human brain - the most complex structure in the univers - reveal its innermost secrets?
These questions on our identity and future will be explored in three exhibitions running over three seasons: "Man Transformed" since November 13, 2001, "Man and his Genes" since May 15, 2002 and "The Innermost Brain" starting in October 2002.
